..a snow angel to bring back memories

the snow brings back a multitude of memories from my childhood.

-i remember...going cross country skiing with jon. following in the tracks behind him so i wouldn't have to blaze my own. and having a terribly difficult time going up the hills. while being ridiculously scared to go down the "big hill" (which really wasn't that big at all)
-i remember...making Christmas cookies and eating half of them before they cooled off.
-i remember...sledding through the trees. dodging every one of them and then stopping before we flew into the pile of brush at the end of the hill.
-i remember...having massive snow ball fights with the neighborhood kids.
-i remember...building gigantic snow forts and then enjoying our delicious dinner of chicken noodle soup and crackers inside of it
-i remember...using that same fort as a landing pad for the high altitude jump off of the roof. while dad cheers us on and mom screams "don't!"
-i remember...snuggling up with mom and dad on the couch. drinking hot cocoa and watching monday night football. always ready to scream "are you ready for some football".
-i remember...wearing matching Christmas sweaters and hating every minute of it.
-i remember...trying to snowboard over mountains of snow and face planting almost every time.
-i remember...falling into an ice covered pond. thanks to lowell. and jon diving into the water to save me.
-i remember...sledding behind my brothers car. please don't tell my mom about that one.
-i remember...spending relentless hours shoveling the driveway. and then having to do it again the next day. thank goodness for snow blowers now.
-i remember...school being cancelled, yet still waking up early in order to get in an entire day of sledding.
-i remember...laying on my back in the snow and catching as many flakes as possible. and then my brothers telling me i just ate dog pee.

[ i've mastered the art of snow angel making ]
.thankyouverymuch.

childhood is such a beautiful thing.
memories are made and dreams are envisioned.
innocence is bliss and chocolate ice cream is heaven.
best friends live right next door and their parrott even knows my name.
pink and orange always go together and we can have matching shirts.

"The soul of a child is the loveliest flower that grows in the garden of God; its climb is from weakness to knowledge and power, to the sky from the clay and clod. Be tender, O Gardener, and give it its share of moisture, of warmth and of light, and let it not lack for thy painstaking care to protect it from frost and from blight" -Author Unknown
