...a man of honor

(to make a long story short...)

my grandpa needs prayer.
when my grandpa was in his twenties he served in World War II. He was in the Navy.

(this is his Navy picture)

sixty years later my grandma found out that he was never fully awarded for his service. He was never given three of the medals he earned. My grandma got ahold of the governor and somehow was able to get those medals for my grandpa.

Sunday morning all my family gathered at my grandpa's church to give him a surprise awarding.

The pastor called up all the veterans of war and they all stood around my grandpa. The pastor then went on to tell stories about my grandpa in the war. How he did courageous and noble acts. He saved his entire ship of men in a heroic act.

(this was him all dressed up for the ceremony...that he was oblivious to)

When the pastor was talking about my grandpa in the war and praying him, my grandpa just started to cry. I could see his tears falling. He tried to keep them back, but he couldn't. He tried to hold himself sturdy on the pulpit.

For the past two months, or so, my grandpa has not been doing well. He has cancer. He has been in and out of hospitals. In and out of nursing homes. His years are coming to an end.

Yet he is still happy about life.
(in the nursing home)

He still has that smile on his face.
Don't ask me how he does it.

Please pray for him. The cancer is not going away. Last night he fell and hit his head. It cracked open and now there is blood building up around his brain. He needs a lot of prayer. He can't go into surgery because he is too weak.

I just want him to get better.

  1. Miss Rose, I understand some of your pain. My grandpa had a stroke while we were celebrating my grandparents anniversary. We spent much time waiting for him to recover. He got better, but then he died. So, I can understand how you feel.
